What Is Hydroponics? Hydroponics is a way of growing plants without soil. Hydroponics, translates from hydro=water and ponos=works. Hydroponics literally means water works. Hydroponic equipment is best suited for indoor gardening or greenhouses. Soilless gardening lets plant take up nutrient faster which means a quicker growing, more compact and more nutritious plant in a smaller space.

Why hydroponic gardening?

  • Less space required -Plant roots have no need to search for water so containers can be smaller allowing for more plants to be grown in the same area.
  • Plants grow faster - The top of the plants receive more energy because the roots are provided for automatically and don't have to search for water.
  • No soil borne pests - There is no soil so soil borne pests are non existent.
  • No weeds - In hydroponics you use a soil free medium so there will be no weeds.
  • Water conservation - Water is much easier to control than with dirt farming.  Hydroponics use less water than with dirt.
  •  More control - You control the pH and nutrients which is easier to do than it is with dirt.
  • Higher yields - Normally you will get higher yields with hydroponics systems than the same plant in dirt.
